This role offers the ideal blend of complex compliance, high value advisory work, and leadership. You will work directly with a diverse portfolio of business owners while mentoring talented intermediate and junior accountants in an environment that actively invests in your pathway to management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full Compliance Management: Prepare and review annual financial statements, complex tax returns, and GST filings for companies, trusts, partnerships, and high net worth individuals.

• Advisory & Client Mentorship: Work directly with business owners to deliver cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and commercial advice that drives financial performance.

• Team Mentorship & Review: Support and guide junior and intermediate accountants, reviewing their work and fostering their professional development.

• Statutory & Agency Liaison: Manage communications with the IRD, oversee payroll compliance, and handle client ACC requirements smoothly.

• Workflow Leadership: Oversee job workflows from start to finish, ensuring deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with client expectations.

What You Bring:

• Public Practice Background: Solid, hands-on experience within a New Zealand public practice firm (ideally 3 to 5+ years in BAS / Business Advisory).

• Qualifications: CA qualified, or currently completing the final stages of your Chartered Accountancy journey.

• Software Expertise: Confidence across modern cloud accounting platforms, particularly Xero, MYOB, and associated reporting apps.

• Mentorship Skills: A natural aptitude for guiding, training, and encouraging developing accountants.

• Client Facing Confidence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into practical advice.

• Detail & Organization: Strong organizational capabilities, sharp analytical acumen, and the ability to manage competing priorities with ease.
