A client-facing Intermediate role within an established Auckland CBD practice that pairs core BAS execution with active business advisory, accessible leadership, and hybrid flexibility.
About the Firm
Operating differently from traditional high-volume compliance shops, this Auckland CBD practice caters to growth-focused entrepreneurs and complex commercial entities who require active business partnership.
The firm prioritizes creative problem-solving and direct client engagement over rigid timesheet pressures. The internal culture is built around an open-door policy, structured mentoring from Directors, and a collaborative environment where staff are given early exposure to advisory work.
What You'll Be Doing
Core BAS & Tax: Prepare and review year-end financial statements, GST, and income tax returns across companies, family trusts, and commercial SMEs.
Management & Advisory: Deliver tailored management reporting packs, cash flow forecasts, budget variance analysis, and proactive tax planning strategies.
Direct Client Engagement: Manage primary client relationships, gather financial information, resolve technical queries, and provide practical commercial insights.
Team Collaboration: Assist senior staff, mentor junior accountants, and work alongside cross-functional teams on advisory projects.
What You'll Bring
2+ years of public practice accounting experience in New Zealand.
CA/CPA qualified, or actively working toward completion.
Proficiency across Xero, modern cloud ecosystems, and standard practice workpapers.
A strong commercial mindset with a focus on client relationship building.
What's in it for you:
The firm has a track record for developing their staff, you'll be encouraged to engage with clients and develop your commercial mindset. A truly collaborative environment where you will be recognised for your contributions to the team not your presence in a seat. As well as:
Competitive base salary, annual performance bonus
Glide-time arrangements (flexible hours) and hybrid work-from-home options.
